Exclusive Biblical Cappadocia Tour with Lunch
Overview
Our guide and driver will meet you at your hotel at 10:00 AM to embark on an enchanting tour of Cappadocia. Our first stop will be Cavusin Nicephoras Phocas Church, dating back to the 10th century. This unique church is dedicated to Byzantine Emperor Nicephoras Phocas and is renowned for its well-preserved frescoes depicting over 20 scenes from the life of Jesus.
The scenes include the Annunciation, Visitation, Flight into Egypt, and more. The west wall features scenes like the Entry into Jerusalem and Healing of the Blind Man. In the apse, you’ll find the Transfiguration and portraits of Emperor Nicephoras Phocas and his family.
Next, we’ll visit St. Jean Church in Gulsehir town. This two-floor church, dating to 1212, houses Biblical scenes and frescoes rarely seen elsewhere in Cappadocia. The Last Judgement is depicted on the west and south walls, along with scenes like the Last Supper and Descent from the Cross.
After lunch in Avanos town, we’ll drive to Pancarlik Church (open from April 1st to October 31st). This church features unique scenes such as The Samaritan Woman and The Healing of the Man with Bad Spirit, making it a subject of scholarly interest as a possible missionary school.
