Explore the Unique Pamukkale Hierapolis Tour
Overview
“Pamukkale is truly unique, surpassing natural wonders with its warm, mineral-rich waters that flow into pools. It is the ancient site where Hierapolis, a notable Greco-Roman thermal complex, was founded. The Christian monuments here showcase early-Christian architectural marvels.
The name Pamukkale, meaning “cotton castle” in Turkish, aptly describes the breathtaking site formed by mineral deposits from hot springs. Mineral forests, petrified cascades, and terraced pools create surreal natural formations due to the rich minerals in this ancient location, making Pamukkale one of Turkey’s most popular tourist destinations.
Ancient Greeks believed in the healing powers of the hot springs, attributing them to reshaping the landscape, leading to the establishment of a thermal station during Roman times. Hierapolis Ancient City, one of Turkey’s most intriguing archaeological sites, stands testament to this history.
Your day begins with breakfast at your hotel, followed by a 9:00 AM pickup for Hierapolis Ancient City. The tour includes visits to Turkey’s largest Necropolis, the Domitian and Byzantium Gates, the Main Street, and a theater seating 20,000 people. After exploring the theater, you’ll have free time to swim in the Cleopatra Pool (additional 10 Euro entrance fee). The tour concludes with a walk through the travertine terraces.
These travertine pools are natural wonders formed by thermal springs rich in calcium bicarbonate, chalk, and limestone, cascading down the hills like frozen waterfalls. The tour wraps up around 4:00 PM with a return to your hotel.
The tour rate is 90 Euro per person
