Exclusive Hattusha Tour from Cappadocia with Lunch
Overview
Our guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel at 09:00 am and drive you to Hattusha (Hattusa) Ancient City. This ancient city, dating back approximately 4000 years, was discovered in 1834 and its identity was confirmed through excavations in 1906, carried out in collaboration between German and Turkish archaeologists.
In the 13th century BC, the city was surrounded by a double wall system spanning about 8 km. To the east, there was the Kayalı Bogaz outpost, and to the north lay a necropolis at Osmankayası and the open-air sanctuary of Yazılıkaya. During our tour, we will visit the Great Temple, storages, Lion Gate, King’s Gate, Sphinx Gate, and more.
The Great Temple is dedicated to the storm god and the sun goddess, Arinna, and is surrounded by various buildings and storerooms. North of the temple, there is the Assyrian settlement’s karum. Additionally, we will visit Yazılıkaya Open Air Sanctuary, the religious center of the Hittites known as the “land of a thousand gods.”
The tour will conclude with a return to your hotel around 4:30-5:00 pm.
